Are You Ready?
Scripture: Revelation 22:20 (KJV)
“He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”
Personal Reflection
The great question concerning the Second Coming is ultimately not when Christ will return.
The great question is:
Are you ready?
Scripture speaks with one united voice. Jesus Christ is coming again. His return is certain, personal, glorious, and unavoidable.
For those who belong to Him, that promise produces joy.
For those who remain outside Christ, it should produce solemn examination.
Are you truly born again?
Are you trusting Christ alone?
Has His blood become your only plea before God?
Are you walking in obedience, or are you comfortably living for this present world?
Do you love His appearing, or would His return interrupt the life you really want?
These questions are too important to answer casually.
Christ's return will reveal the worthlessness of everything upon which sinners build false security—money, possessions, reputation, religion, accomplishments, and human approval.
Only one thing will finally matter:
Do I belong to Jesus Christ?
And for those who do belong to Him, readiness means more than waiting.
We watch.
We pray.
We work.
We pursue holiness.
We proclaim the gospel.
We remain faithful to Scripture even when others compromise.
We live as servants expecting their Master.
The believer need not fear the coming King, because the Judge who comes is also the Savior who died for us.
Therefore, our response is not terror but longing.
The Bible closes with Christ's promise:
“Surely I come quickly.”
And the redeemed heart answers:
“Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”
Contemplation
If Christ returned today, would I greet His appearing with joy—or wish I had more time to prepare?
Puritan Quote
Richard Baxter wrote:
“Live as those that are going to the grave; and die as those that are going to God.”
Prayer
Lord Jesus, keep me ready for Your appearing. Make me watchful, holy, faithful, and courageous. Let my life demonstrate that I truly believe You are coming again. Amen.
Application
Examine your life today in three areas: salvation, holiness, and unfinished obedience. Do not postpone anything God is calling you to address.
