4-5-2025 Devotion

After looking at Romans 8:28 for a few days, we should have an understanding that God is using the events in our lives for our good. He is working something in us; He is molding us into His image. Does this mean that evil people have an advantage over us? Does it mean that we are to be victims to evil? No, because there is more good news Paul has for us in this section of Scripture. Romans 8:31 says: "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" Did that sink in? God is for us; He is not against us. We have nothing to fear from evil people or events because we have a mighty friend on our side.

Philip Doddridge explained: "On the whole, what shall we therefore say to these things, or conclude upon this review? surely we may courageously defy all our enemies, and say, If that God who hath all power in himself, and all the events of time and eternity under his direction, {be,} as we have heard, for us, who {can} presume to {be} against us, or be able to do us any hurt by the fiercest opposition, while we are guarded by such a Protector?" You are guarded today from evil. God is in charge and not man. We may resist evil to the fullest because of God being on our side. Further, we know that everything is working for our good.

Today, focus on the fact that you have God on your side. It doesn't matter who or what is opposing you. It matters not because the King of Kings and Lord of Lords is on your side. Take great comfort and be at peace because of these promises.
