Devotion Title: Seen Through Covenant Eyes
Scripture:
Galatians 3:29 (RSV)
"And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise."
Jeremiah 2:2–3 (RSV)
“Thus says the LORD, I remember the devotion of your youth, your love as a bride, how you followed me in the wilderness, in a land not sown. Israel was holy to the LORD, the first fruits of his harvest. All who ate of it became guilty; evil came upon them, says the LORD.”
Personal Reflection:
Have you ever looked in the mirror of your soul and wondered if God could still use you after everything you’ve done—or failed to do? Those moments of self-doubt can be spiritually paralyzing. I’ve walked through seasons where shame seemed louder than grace, where my repeated failures made me question if God had quietly walked away. But today’s Scriptures whisper a deeper truth.
Even in their worst moments, the children of Israel were seen through the lens of God’s covenant. Despite the grumbling, idolatry, and rebellion in the wilderness, God looked back and called them devoted, loving, and faithful. How? Because He viewed them through covenant eyes—eyes that remember His promises more than our failures.
If you are in Christ, then you are part of Abraham’s covenant family. That means God does not look at you through the lens of your most recent mistake. He sees you wrapped in the righteousness of Jesus, bound by His promise, and secured by His blood. Yes, He corrects and disciplines—but always as a Father, never as a judge.
Contemplation:
Do you believe that God’s covenant love is stronger than your repeated failures?
Have you confused God’s correction with rejection?
What would it change in your walk today if you knew—really knew—that He still calls you His beloved because of the covenant?
Let this sink in: If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, and heir according to the promise. That means what He promised to Abraham flows to you—not by merit, but by mercy.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You that You see me through covenant eyes. Thank You that in Christ, I am part of Abraham’s family and an heir to Your promises. When I stumble, help me not to run from You in shame but to run to You in repentance and trust. Teach me to treasure this covenant—not as a license to sin, but as a call to holiness grounded in grace. Strengthen my obedience and deepen my love for You. Let me live with the confidence that I am seen, known, and cherished—not for what I’ve done, but because of what You have promised in Christ Jesus.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,
Amen.
