The Blessing of What You Already Have

The Blessing of What You Already Have

Scripture Reading:

“Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, and the fruit of your land, and the fruit of your livestock—the increase of your cattle and the young of your flock.”
— Deuteronomy 28:4

Personal Reflection

When I read this verse, I’m struck by how comprehensive God's blessing is. It covers my bodymy home, and my work. It touches every area of life — from what is formed in the womb to the soil beneath my feet, to the labor of my hands and the provision of my household.

And yet, how easily I overlook this. I confess — my eyes sometimes drift toward what I lack, or what others seem to have more of. But the blessing of God isn’t measured by comparison. It's measured by God’s gracious provision, tailored to your life, your purpose, and your calling.

I recall my time visiting impoverished regions in India. I saw children playing in dirt streets with no shoes, families sharing a single room, and many going without meals. And yet, they smiled. They lived. They praised. It reminded me that gratitude opens our eyes to the blessings we already possess.

Deuteronomy 28:4 speaks of fruit — what is naturally produced through God’s design. My life may not be overflowing with material wealth, but I see His blessing in my children, in the food on my table, in the roof over my head, and even in the breath I just took.

Contemplation

  • Am I looking for blessings in others’ fields, or seeing what God has already grown in mine?

  • Do I recognize that my physical health, my work, and my daily provision are signs of God’s goodness?

  • Have I allowed comparison to blind me to contentment?

  • Have I thanked God today for what I already have?

Let’s realign our eyes — not toward what we wish we had, but toward the Lord, the Giver of every good and perfect gift.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the fruit of my body — for life, breath, and the unseen ways You have watched over me since the womb. Thank You for the ground beneath my feet, the home that shelters me, the work of my hands, and the provisions You’ve placed in my life.

Forgive me for the times I’ve complained rather than given thanks. Forgive me for measuring Your blessing by the yardstick of this world. Today, I choose to see with renewed eyes — eyes that recognize Your fingerprints on everything I have.

Teach me to rejoice in my portion, and help me steward all You've given with humility and gratitude. Let my heart stay fixed on You — not on what others possess — because I know that You are enough, and what You give is good.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Key Takeaway:

You are more blessed than you know. The fruit of your life is proof that God sees you, provides for you, and loves you. Thank Him today — not for what you're waiting for, but for what you already have.
