We will conclude looking at walking in love. Ephesians 5:2 says: "And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour." While it is God that gives us the desire to walk in love, it is our responsibility to do the walking. We see this mixture of God's Sovereignity and the responsibility of man woven throughout the Bible as well as in our daily walk with God. God does something in us; He changes and transforms us. Yet, we must follow that change and carry out His will in our lives by being obedient to Him.
Sometimes my responsibilities require that I leave our home very early. When I do, I usually see people out early in the morning running or jogging. They leave the comfort of their homes very early in the morning because they are dedicated to the cause of their physical health. Rain, shine, cold or hot, the weather doesn't matter because they are commited to exercise. They have a desire to be healthy but that desire will do them no good until they put action with that desire. The same is true for our spiritual walk with God. You make preparation in the home, but you must walk it out in the world you live in, e.g. your work, school, and relationships. We will be the ones that walk in love and we must not make excuses.
Today, as you do the walking, first thank God that he has changed you. You want to walk in love and that is not your work, it is His. Second, understand that it is your duty to walk in love and then just do it. When the circumstances seem to be against you, walk right through them in love. Let nothing deter your walk of love for Jesus Christ. It will not be long before that walk leaves a mark on those around you.
