Devotion: Faith in Action – From Brokenness to Wholeness
Scripture:
“For she said, ‘If I touch even his garments, I shall be made well.’” – Mark 5:28 (ESV)
“And he said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.’” – Mark 5:34 (ESV)
Personal Reflection
Yesterday we meditated on the blessing of shalom—God’s desire for His people to live with nothing broken and nothing missing. Today, we meet a woman whose life was anything but whole. For twelve long years, her body hemorrhaged. She had spent all she had, been cast aside as unclean, and lived on the outskirts of society, untouched and unseen. And yet, one day, faith rose up inside her.
She didn’t just believe in her mind—she acted. She pressed through the crowd. She reached through the shame. She touchedwhat others feared. And in doing so, she activated the fullness of sozo—healing, wholeness, salvation, and peace.
Contemplation
This woman’s story is not just about physical healing—it is about the restoration of identity, dignity, and peace. Her faith reached toward the source of wholeness and found shalomembodied in Jesus.
Ask yourself:
What areas of my life feel broken or missing?
Have I been passively hoping or actively pressing in faith?
Is my belief in God’s peace evidenced by courageous action?
Remember, Jesus didn’t just heal her body—He restored her soul and pronounced peace over her life. That’s what shalom looks like in motion.
Questions to Ponder
What steps of faith do I need to take to pursue wholeness in Christ?
How am I allowing fear or shame to keep me from reaching for Jesus?
Do I believe that God wants me to live in shalom—with nothing broken and nothing missing?
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You that in Christ, You offer me shalom—a life of wholeness, healing, and peace. Like the woman in Mark 5, I desire to reach out in faith. Strengthen me to take bold steps, to press through every obstacle, and to trust You fully. Help me not to be content with fragments, but to believe You for fullness. Let my life reflect the truth that You restore what is broken and fill what is missing. I place my faith in You today—not only in word, but in action.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
