Living for Eternal Glory
Scripture
“For our light affliction…worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”— 2 Corinthians 4:17
Personal Reflection
The apostle Paul calls affliction “light” not because it is easy, but because it is temporary when compared to eternal glory. Storms feel overwhelming when viewed in isolation, but they diminish when seen in the light of eternity. God is not merely bringing you through the storm—He is preparing you for glory. Every trial endured by faith is shaping a soul that will one day stand perfected in His presence. The believer who lives with eternity in view gains perspective, endurance, and hope.
Contemplation
Thomas Watson wrote, “The saints have a weight of glory for a weight of sorrow.”
Are you measuring your life by present pain or future glory?
Prayer
Lord, lift my eyes above the temporary and fix them on the eternal inheritance You have prepared.
Application
When overwhelmed today, remind yourself: “This is temporary—glory is eternal.”
