Worship in the Storm
Scripture
“Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.” — Job 13:15
Personal Reflection
True worship is not dependent upon favorable circumstances but upon a settled conviction of who God is. Job’s declaration is not the language of comfort, but of conviction. When the storm strips away health, security, and understanding, what remains is the object of our true worship. If we worship God only when He blesses us, then we worship His gifts, not His person. But when we trust Him in suffering, we proclaim that He is worthy for who He is—holy, sovereign, wise, and good—regardless of what He permits. This kind of worship glorifies God in the highest sense, for it declares His worth above all earthly comforts.
Contemplation
Richard Sibbes wrote, “God is most honored when we trust Him most.”
Do you worship God for who He is—or for what He gives?
Prayer
Lord, teach me to worship You in truth, even when my heart is heavy and my understanding is limited.
Application
Set aside time today to praise God—not for what He has done—but for who He is.
