Confidence in God's Unchanging Purpose

Confidence in God's Unchanging Purpose

Scripture: Isaiah 14:27 (KJV)

"For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?"

Personal Reflection

Human plans often change. We begin projects that remain unfinished, make promises we cannot keep, and set goals that circumstances prevent us from accomplishing. God's purposes are altogether different. What He decrees, He performs. What He promises, He fulfills.

This truth gives the believer unshakable confidence. Our assurance does not rest upon our strength but upon God's unchanging purpose. He who called us by His grace will complete the work He began. He never abandons His children halfway through the journey.

History itself demonstrates this reality. God promised Abraham a son, and Isaac was born. He promised Israel a Deliverer, and Christ came in the fullness of time. He promised that Christ would rise from the dead, and the tomb remains empty. Every divine promise has either been fulfilled or will certainly be fulfilled according to God's perfect timing.

Therefore, we face the future with hope. The same sovereign God who fulfilled every promise concerning Christ's first coming will fulfill every promise concerning His return and the eternal kingdom.

Our confidence rests not in circumstances but in the God whose purposes cannot fail.

Contemplation

Do I live with confidence in God's promises or anxiety over changing circumstances?

Puritan Quote

Stephen Charnock wrote:

"God never begins a work which He intends not to finish."

Prayer

Faithful Father, strengthen my confidence in Your unchanging purposes. Help me trust every promise You have made because You cannot lie. Amen.

Application

Choose one promise from Scripture today and meditate upon it until it strengthens your confidence in God's faithfulness.
