Mortification is Spirit-empowered.
Owen insists:
“All other ways of mortification are vain, all helps leave us helpless; it must be done by the Spirit.”⁷
Effort divorced from grace breeds pride.

Am I striving without leaning?
Prayer
Holy Spirit, subdue what I cannot conquer.
