Sin’s Deception

Scripture: Hebrews 3:13 (KJV)
“Exhort one another daily… lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”

Reflection

Sin rarely appears dangerous at first. It disguises itself as harmless, reasonable, or even necessary. Over time, however, it hardens the heart and distances us from God.

Puritan Insight

John Owen wrote:

“Sin aims always at the utmost; every time it rises up to tempt or entice, it would go to the utmost sin in that kind.”⁸

Prayer

Father, expose the deceitfulness of sin in my life and keep my heart tender toward Your Word.
