Devotion – God’s Hand Behind Dark Clouds

Devotion – God’s Hand Behind Dark Clouds

Scripture:
“Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.” — Psalm 97:2

Personal Reflection:
Life often brings seasons when providence appears clouded and confusing. When trials multiply and circumstances seem chaotic, I’m tempted to believe God has withdrawn or turned against me. Yet the psalmist reminds us that even when clouds surround God’s throne, He is not absent. Righteousness and justice remain the foundation of all His works. His providence may wear a frown, but behind it shines His unchanging goodness.

Contemplation:
Do I measure God’s love by how clear the skies of life appear? Or do I trust that when I cannot see His hand, I can rest in His heart? Providence may hide God’s purposes for a time, but it never changes His nature.

Quote (Murray):
“Providence may wear a frowning face, but behind it God hides a smiling countenance.”

Prayer:
Lord, when the clouds of life darken my view, remind me that Your throne has not moved. Strengthen my faith to believe that even in the mystery, Your hand is guiding with righteousness and love.

Challenge:
Write down one trial you do not understand. Beneath it, write in bold: “God is still righteous and good.” Let this reminder guard your heart when doubts rise.
