Overcoming Fear

Overcoming Fear

Scripture

“God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”— 2 Timothy 1:7

Personal Reflection

Fear is one of the most common responses to the storm. It clouds judgment, weakens faith, and draws the heart away from trust in God. Yet Scripture makes it clear that fear does not come from God. Instead, He gives His people power, love, and a sound mind. Fear focuses on circumstances; faith focuses on God. When the believer remembers that God is sovereign, wise, and good, fear begins to lose its grip. This does not mean the absence of difficulty, but the presence of divine assurance. The storm may still rage, but the heart anchored in God will not be overcome by fear.

Contemplation

Isaac Watts wrote, “His fear is driven out by perfect love.”
What fears are controlling your heart today?

Prayer

Lord, replace my fear with faith. Help me trust in Your sovereign care.

Application

Identify one fear and confront it with a promise from God’s Word.
