Faith Sees What Sight Cannot

Faith Sees What Sight Cannot

Scripture: Hebrews 11:1
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

Personal Reflection

We live in a world obsessed with what can be seen, measured, proven, and verified. Yet the Christian life is not built upon visible circumstances but upon the invisible promises of God. Walking by faith means trusting God's character when circumstances seem contrary to His Word. Abraham left his homeland without knowing where he was going. Noah built an ark when no rain had ever fallen. Both men trusted God's revelation more than human observation.

Faith does not deny reality; it interprets reality through the lens of Scripture. The believer sees beyond present difficulties and rests in the promises of God. What appears impossible to human eyes is entirely possible with God.

Contemplation

What circumstances in your life are tempting you to walk by sight instead of faith? Are you measuring God's faithfulness by what you see or by what He has promised?

Puritan Quote

Thomas Watson wrote:

"Faith sees more in a promise of God than in a performance of man."

Prayer

Heavenly Father, forgive me when I rely more upon my eyes than upon Your Word. Teach me to trust Your promises even when I cannot see how they will be fulfilled. Strengthen my faith and help me rest in Your perfect wisdom. Amen.

Application

Identify one concern that has caused anxiety this week. Find a biblical promise that addresses it and meditate upon that promise throughout the day.
