Faith Trusts God's Providence
Scripture: Romans 8:28
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God."
Personal Reflection
Faith believes that God is working even when we cannot see His hand. Providence is God's sovereign government of every detail of life. Nothing happens by accident. Nothing escapes His notice. Nothing frustrates His purposes.
Joseph could not see God's plan while sitting in prison. Naomi could not see God's plan while grieving her losses. The disciples could not see God's plan while watching Christ die upon the cross. Yet in every case, God was accomplishing something far greater than anyone could imagine.
Faith does not require understanding every circumstance. It requires confidence that God understands perfectly. The believer rests in the assurance that every joy, sorrow, blessing, and trial has been woven into God's eternal plan.
Contemplation
What difficult circumstance are you struggling to reconcile with God's goodness?
Puritan Quote
Thomas Watson wrote:
"God is too wise to err and too good to be unkind."
Prayer
Lord, help me trust Your providence when I cannot understand Your purposes. Give me confidence that You are working all things together for Your glory and my good. Amen.
Application
Reflect on a past hardship that God used for good. Thank Him specifically for His providential care during that season.
