The Foundation of Worship

The Foundation of Worship

Scripture: Romans 10:17
"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

Personal Reflection

True worship is always grounded in divine revelation. Abel's faith did not arise from imagination or personal preference. It rested upon what God had revealed.

The same principle governs worship today. We do not invent worship according to our desires. We worship according to God's Word. The Bible reveals who God is, what He has done, and how He desires to be approached.

A generation that neglects Scripture will inevitably corrupt worship. When God's Word loses its central place, human preferences take control. Entertainment replaces reverence. Feelings replace truth. Man becomes the focus rather than God.

Faith-filled worship begins when God's Word fills the mind and captivates the heart. The believer hears God's voice in Scripture and responds with adoration, gratitude, confession, and obedience.

The more clearly we see God through His Word, the more deeply we worship Him.

Contemplation

Is my worship shaped more by Scripture or by personal preference?

Puritan Quote

John Flavel wrote:

"The Scriptures are the golden pipe through which the oil of grace flows into the soul."

Prayer

Lord, let Your Word govern my worship. Open my eyes to behold Your glory and respond with reverence and joy. Amen.

Application

Read a Psalm before your daily prayer time and allow it to shape your worship.
