Would you like to have thoughts of God throughout the day? With practice, this is possible. C.S. Lewis wrote: "We may ignore, but we can nowhere evade, the presence of God." Psalm 139:8 says: "If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there." Since God is present with us throughout the day, we may have thoughts about His presence during the day as we go about our every day duties. We are going to spend a few days developing this practice of the presence of God.
Adam Clarke explained this verse as: "Thou art in heaven, in thy glory; in hell, in thy vindictive justice; and in all parts of earth, water, space, place, or vacuity, by thy omnipresence. Wherever I am, there art thou; and where I cannot be, thou art there. Thou fillest the heavens and the earth." God's omnipresence includes where we work, live and play. This remembrance alone, is reason to examine what we do and where we go.
Today, as you go about your day keep your thoughts on the presence of God. If your duties involve a time where this is not possible, during breaks or rest periods refocus back to the fact that God is with you. As you practice this, you will find yourself more at peace. God's omnipresence will keep your mind safe and secure.
