Trials enable us to help others in their suffering. Sometimes we suffer mainly so we can better serve others in their own suffering. Jesus told Peter, "Simon, Simon, behold Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers" (Luke 22: 31-32). Second Corinthians 1: 3-4 tells us that we undergo trials so we can comfort others with the comfort we have received from the Lord Jesus Christ. God graciously allows us to learn by experience how we might aid and instruct others. Is that your mindset when you face a trial? Or, do you focus on yourself and have a pity party? As believers, we are to allow the Word of God to control our actions, emotions and attitude. As we ask the Holy Spirit to guide us, He will. The next time you face a trial, look around for someone to help.
