A Preacher of Righteousness

A Preacher of Righteousness

Scripture: 2 Peter 2:5 (KJV)
"Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness."

Personal Reflection

Noah did more than build an ark. He preached. For one hundred and twenty years he warned an unbelieving world of coming judgment. Every strike of the hammer and every board placed into the ark became a testimony that God's Word was true.

Imagine the ridicule he endured. The people of his generation had never seen rain, much less a worldwide flood. They likely laughed at him, mocked him, and considered him foolish. Yet Noah remained faithful. He feared God more than he feared the opinions of men.

We live in a similar world today. The message of judgment and salvation through Christ alone is often rejected or ridiculed. Many believers are tempted to remain silent to avoid conflict or criticism. Yet Noah reminds us that God's servants are called to be faithful witnesses.

Not everyone is called to stand behind a pulpit, but every believer is called to be a witness for Christ. We preach through our words, our actions, our priorities, and our conduct. The world should see in us a people who truly believe that eternity is real.

Noah's ministry apparently produced few visible results outside his family. Yet Scripture never measures success by numbers. God measures success by faithfulness. The same is true in our day. We may never see the fruit of our witness in this life, but our responsibility is not to produce results—it is to be faithful.

One day we too will stand before God. May it be said of us that we faithfully proclaimed His truth regardless of the world's response.

Contemplation

Am I faithfully bearing witness to Christ?

Puritan Quote

John Owen wrote:

"A minister may fill his pews, his communion roll, and the mouths of the public, but what that man is on his knees before God, that he is and no more."

Prayer

Lord, make me bold in speaking Your truth with love and conviction. Help me never to be ashamed of the gospel, and grant me courage to bear witness to Christ in both word and deed. Amen.

Application

Pray for one person who needs Christ and intentionally seek an opportunity this week to share the gospel with them.
