As we continue thinking about spiritual warfare, we want to make sure we have all the armor. Ephesians 6: 13 reads: "Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." The Greek word translated "withstand" means to oppose, rebel, resist and oppose. The Greek word translated "stand" means to be present, stop, or establish. The first 3 pieces of armor (girdle, breastplate, and shoes/boots, were worn continually on the battlefield; the last 3 (shield, helmet, and sword, vv. 16 were kept ready for use when actual fighting began. Since the fall of man, every day has been evil, a condition that will persist until the Lord returns and establishes His own righteous kingdom on earth. having done all, to stand. Standing firm against the enemy without wavering or falling is the goal. We must always have His righteousness, coupled with our obedience, and we will be able to resist the enemy and make a stand without fear of failing. Always be standing!
