We shall continue to look at spiritual warfare for the believer. Remember, true spiritual warfare is not about territory, but the truth. Ephesians 6: 17 reads: "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God...." Today, we look at offense. Most of the armor is designed to protect you from Satan, but you also have weapons against him. Now we have two weapons for offense. The first one is the Word of God, called the sword of the Spirit. “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”. Christ is the living Word of God. He used the Word of God to meet Satan in the hour of His temptation. Out of His mouth goeth a sharp two-edged sword in the battle of Armageddon (see Rev. 1:16. He gains the victory with that sword. What is it? It is the Word of God. We need that sharp sword going out of our mouths today. The Word of God is a powerful weapon of offense. You and I are to use it. This is why we can never compromise the Word, even if it looks like the only way to keep peace. I don't want peace if I have to compromise the truth about salvation, sanctification, blood redemption, Holy Spirit conviction or the Second Coming. We must not compromise even in the fierce pressure from the world. Cancel me, go ahead, but my Lord won't!
