The Power of the Word

Scripture:
“The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.” — Psalm 119:130

Reflection (John Cotton):
Cotton taught that the preacher’s power and the believer’s growth both come from the Spirit working through the Word. Scripture is God’s chosen means to illumine dark hearts.

Personal Reflection:
Am I opening my Bible expecting God to speak? Too often I read for information rather than transformation. Cotton calls me to expect the Word to bring light—to convict, comfort, and guide.

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, open my eyes and flood my soul with the light of Your Word.

Challenge:
Read one chapter of Scripture today as if God Himself is speaking directly to you—because He is.
