The Purity of Worship
Scripture:
“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” — John 4:24
Reflection (John Cotton):
Cotton insisted that worship must be shaped by Scripture, not by human invention. Worship is sacred—God decides the terms.
Personal Reflection:
Do I treat the gathered worship of God casually? Do I come distracted, hurried, or half-engaged? Cotton reminds me that worship is meeting with the holy God in the way He has commanded.
Prayer:
Lord, make my heart reverent in worship. Help me approach You with humility and joy.
Challenge:
Prepare your heart intentionally before the next worship service—pray, read Scripture, and come expecting to meet God.
