Today, we look at the fifth category of prayer:
5. Prayer of Worship: We are to pray a prayer of worship by bowing ourselves (not necessarily physically although it is the recommended posture but certainly spiritually) to our Heavenly Father, Son and Holy Spirit and "kissing their collective hand." How do we do this? We do this by not rushing from the encounter. We express our love and adoration for all that God has done for us. We confess His Word as the truth in our lives. We proclaim our commitment to Him and the furtherance of His Kingdom. We acknowledge His Sovereignty and Providence. We do not seek to manipulate Him, but instead to be completely agreeable to whatever His will is in our lives. We are to prayerfully submit to and be desirous of His perfect will. The prayer of worship prepares us to live our lives in obedience to whatever comes into our life. Remember, worship is about the Lord God and not about you. Too often what passes for worship today is a cheap excuse that sounds like a rock concert or a honky tonk. I remember being in a "revival" once that had a woman evangelist and she sang country style music with a little Jesus thrown in. It wasn't a revival. It was a concert. But that is what happens when you have unsaved people leading a church. Did anyone get saved? No! Was there any conviction of sin? No! It was four days of if you closed your eyes you would have thought you were in a country western bar. God help us. Worship is about Him not us.
