Today, we begin a 30 day look at the promises of God..Herbert Lockyer wrote what I consider the definite work on the subject. He found over 7000 promises from God. Samuel Johnson stated that "A promise is the declaration of some benefit to be conferred. Webster's Dictionary gives us this definition: "One's pledge to another to do or not to do something...." God made this promise in the Garden of Eden: "I will put enmity between thee and the woman and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel." Satan was responsible for the entrance of sin into the world. I take great comfort that the fall did not catch our LORD by surprise. As soon as the event happened in the Garden, God was ready with His promise. There would be a curse on Satan. There was a plan for the redemption of men's souls before the foundation of the world. Whatever you are facing, God is in front of it.
