Today, we consider the promise God made to Abraham: "I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee...." You may ask what has that to do with me? Galatians 3: 13-14 states: "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith." We receive the blessings promised to Abraham. Don't fall into the false prosperity gospel trap. The blessing we receive is salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. Some will "cherry pick" a verse, take it out of context, and have you focus on material possessions. People that do this are lost and headed to a devil's hell. The promises are about the Lord Jesus Christ. When we have Christ, we have everything. We have all we need to live a life well pleasing to the Lord. Thank God for the promise for the promise to Abraham and thank God for the Lord Jesus Christ who has redeemed us from the curse of the law.
