Today, we turn our attention to the topic of the "Person and Work of the Holy Spirit." I don't think there is an area that has provided as much controversy and simply put, bad doctrine, than the Doctrine of the Holy Spirit. We will spend a few days looking at the Person of the Holy Spirit and what He does. 1 Corinthians 12: 3 reads: "Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost." Here is a great truth, an absolute truth of the Christian life: the Lordship of Jesus Christ. “No man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed.” You cannot belittle Jesus Christ by the Spirit of God. It won’t work. Also, “no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.” Oh, of course we can say the word Lord. But remember what the Lord Jesus said: “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity”. Why will that be? Because their profession is on the surface. The Lord Jesus was not their Lord. Today's message is simple: there is no salvation without the Lordship of Jesus Christ. That is the work of the Holy Spirit to bring that truth to the sinner's heart.
