Quietness of Heart
Scripture:
“In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.” — Isaiah 30:15
Personal Reflection:
Burroughs described contentment as “the inward, quiet submission of the heart.” I often equate peace with silence around me, but true peace is silence within me — a calm soul under God’s rule. Anxiety is loud; faith whispers. Contentment grows when I stop arguing with God.
Contemplation:
Is my heart quiet before God, or filled with inner murmurings against His will?
Prayer:
Lord, still my restless thoughts. Replace my noise with the calm assurance that You are God and I am Yours.
Challenge:
Set aside five minutes today to sit in silence — no requests, only surrender. Let your heart grow still before the Lord.
