The Sanctifying Power of Affliction

The Sanctifying Power of Affliction

Scripture:
“It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.” — Psalm 119:71

Personal Reflection:
Watson wrote, “Afflictions are God’s flail to thresh off our husks.” Pain has often revealed what prosperity concealed. My trials have made me pray more fervently and depend more deeply.

Contemplation:
God’s chastening is not a penalty but a purifier. The fire of affliction refines the gold of faith and burns away the dross of pride.

Prayer:
Father, give me grace to see affliction as Your school of holiness, not as a punishment but a path to deeper obedience.

Challenge:
Thank God today for one past trial and identify what eternal lesson it taught you.
