The Bruised Reed
Scripture:
“A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench.” — Matthew 12:20
Personal Reflection:
Richard Sibbes reminds me that Christ does not crush the weak but strengthens them. I often think my failures disqualify me, but Christ draws near to the broken. My bruises are not signs of rejection—they are invitations for His healing grace.
Contemplation:
Do I believe Christ’s gentleness is stronger than my weakness?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, heal my bruised spirit. Let me find rest in Your tender mercy.
Challenge:
Reach out today to someone who feels spiritually weak. Offer them encouragement, not correction.
