The Folly of Comparison

The Folly of Comparison

Scripture:
“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have.” — Hebrews 13:5

Personal Reflection:
Burroughs warned that discontent often grows from comparison: “We measure our condition by others, not by Christ.” When I look sideways, I lose sight of grace. Others may have more, but none have more reason to be thankful than one redeemed by Christ.

Contemplation:
Do I measure my life by Christ’s blessings or by worldly standards?

Prayer:
Lord, free me from the envy that breeds restlessness. Fix my eyes on Your goodness to me.

Challenge:
Each time you feel envy today, thank God aloud for one blessing in your own life.
