The Joy of Mercy

Scripture:
“The joy of the LORD is your strength.” — Nehemiah 8:10

Personal Reflection:
Sibbes said, “God delights to show mercy.” Mercy is not God’s reluctant act but His joy. If His joy is to forgive, then my joy must be to receive. I can rest knowing that grace is God’s pleasure, not His burden.

Contemplation:
Do I imagine God forgiving me grudgingly, or joyfully?

Prayer:
Lord, let Your joy in mercy be my strength. Teach me to rejoice in Your forgiving heart.

Challenge:
Forgive someone freely and gladly today, as Christ has forgiven you.
