This year, we have been looking at errors prevalent in the church. These errors create real problems for people. There is a statement I like to make: "Bad theology leads to bad behavior." If people have not been instructed by true ministers of the gospel, that have not been born-again themselves, they are likely to have several issues: false conversions, the need for an experience of power to help them defeat sin in their lives, or seeking signs and wonders in an effort to have confidence in their salvation. How many times have you heard someone say, "Oh, I want to be in the presence of the Lord." Generally, I remark that people in Bible days that encountered the Presence of the Lord usually were terrified and fell to the ground (and I don't mean the fake "slain in the spirit" you see in Charismatic churches). Today, we look at the error of false conversions. The following are examples of methods that produce false conversions: repeating the sinner's prayer, making a decision for Jesus, or making a profession of faith. There is no sinner's prayer in the Bible. The Bible does not support the concept of making a decision or profession of faith for or in Jesus. Acts 16: 30, 31 reads: "Then he brought them out and said, 'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?' And they said, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.'" There is no salvation without making Jesus Christ the Lord of your life. When He is your Lord, it impacts every area of your life. Repentance and faith in Him and He will be your Lord. Now, that is salvation!
