Christ, the Friend of Sinners
Scripture:
“This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.” — Luke 15:2
Personal Reflection:
Newton never ceased to wonder that Jesus would welcome someone like him. “When I think of the Lord’s patience with me,” he wrote, “I am lost in amazement.” Christ did not come to condemn, but to seek and save. My hope is not that I am worthy, but that He is merciful.
Contemplation:
Do I truly believe that Christ welcomes me as I am, or do I try to earn His approval?
Prayer:
Jesus, Friend of sinners, thank You for welcoming me. Teach me to welcome others with the same compassion You have shown me.
Challenge:
Reach out today to someone who feels distant from God. Be the hands of Christ to them.
