Devotion – The Slender Thread of Life
Scripture:
“...their foot shall slide in due time.” — Deuteronomy 32:35
Personal Reflection:
Jonathan Edwards reminds me that every sinner stands suspended over eternity by nothing but the hand of God. The smallest accident, the faintest illness, the briefest lapse — and life could end. My existence is not self-secured; it is mercy sustained. I am alive today because God has chosen to keep me so.
Contemplation:
Do I walk humbly, realizing that life itself is an act of divine patience?
Edwards Quote:
“There is nothing that keeps wicked men at any one moment out of hell, but the mere pleasure of God.” — Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God
Prayer:
Sovereign Lord, thank You for holding me in mercy when justice could have cast me away. Let gratitude replace pride and holiness replace presumption.
Challenge:
Spend five minutes in silent awe today, thanking God for every heartbeat that testifies to His sustaining mercy.
