Devotion – The Burning Wrath of a Holy God
Scripture:
“For our God is a consuming fire.” — Hebrews 12:29
Personal Reflection:
God’s wrath is not impulsive but holy and pure. Edwards shows that divine anger burns because sin violates infinite holiness. I cannot comprehend such justice, yet it reveals the worth of Christ’s cross—where infinite wrath met infinite mercy.
Contemplation:
Do I tremble before a holy God, or treat His grace as cheap and casual?
Edwards Quote:
“The wrath of God is like great waters that are dammed for the present; they increase more and more, and rise higher and higher, till an outlet is given.” — Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God
Prayer:
Holy and Righteous God, forgive me for treating sin lightly. Let the fire of Your holiness purify my heart and deepen my awe of Your Son.
Challenge:
Meditate on the cross today. Remember: the fire that should have consumed you fell upon Christ instead.
