Grace Greater Than Our Sin
Scripture:
“But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.” — Romans 5:20
Personal Reflection:
John Bunyan’s early years were filled with open rebellion: profanity, blasphemy, and careless living. He believed his sins were beyond God’s reach. Many of us feel this way — trapped in cycles of failure, convinced that our guilt has outgrown grace. Yet Paul proclaims something radical: wherever sin builds its empire, grace builds higher still. Grace is not fragile; it overwhelms sin. Just as light swallows darkness, Christ’s mercy swallows guilt. My failures are real, but God’s mercy is greater still — not barely enough, but super-abundant.
Contemplation:
Do I live as though my sin is greater than Christ’s cross? Or do I let the truth of abounding grace calm my restless conscience and renew my hope?
Quote (Bunyan):
“No sin is too great for God to pardon, because there is no sin greater than the grace of God.”
Prayer:
Lord, when guilt crushes me, remind me that Your grace abounds beyond all sin. Teach me to look not at my failures but at the cross where mercy triumphed over judgment.
Challenge:
Write down the one sin that feels heaviest on your heart. Beneath it, write: “But grace abounded more.” Pray over it until your heart rests in this truth.
