Devotion – The Wrath That Is Yet to Come
Scripture:
“Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?” — Luke 3:7
Personal Reflection:
Edwards preached as though eternity were pressing upon the present. The wrath to come is not myth but reality. Yet every warning of judgment is an invitation to mercy. The God who threatens is also the God who saves.
Contemplation:
Does my faith still tremble at the thought of eternity?
Edwards Quote:
“The bow of God’s wrath is bent, and the arrow made ready on the string, and justice bends the arrow at your heart.” — Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God
Prayer:
Righteous Judge, I deserve the arrow of Your wrath, but Christ has taken it for me. Let gratitude make me bold to warn others.
Challenge:
Speak to one person today about God’s mercy in Christ—lovingly, urgently, sincerely.
