Devotion – The Great Awakening Within

Scripture:

“Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.” — Ephesians 5:14

Personal Reflection:
Edwards’ preaching awakened a nation because it first awakened hearts. I can know the truth intellectually yet be asleep spiritually. True revival begins when sin becomes bitter and Christ becomes beautiful.

Contemplation:
Am I awake to the realities of heaven and hell, or lulled by comfort?

Edwards Quote:

“Almost every natural man that hears of hell flatters himself that he shall escape it.” — Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God

Prayer:
Spirit of God, awaken me from spiritual sleep. Let the gospel shake me to life again.

Challenge:
Fast from one comfort or distraction today. Use that time to pray for personal and national awakening.
