Devotion – Trusting God’s Hidden Smile
Scripture:
“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.”— Psalm 42:11
Personal Reflection:
Discouragement whispers that God has forgotten me. Yet David preached to his own soul: “Hope in God.” When providence frowns, faith trusts that His smile is hidden but real.
Contemplation:
Am I listening to despair, or preaching truth to my own soul?
Quote (Murray):
“The frown of providence conceals the smile of His eternal love.”
Prayer:
Lord, when I am downcast, help me to hope in You. Teach me to trust Your hidden smile until it is revealed in joy.
Challenge:
Speak Psalm 42:11 aloud to yourself when discouragement comes.
