Devotion – The Spider’s Web of False Security
Scripture:
“Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.” — Psalm 146:3
Personal Reflection:
Edwards compared false hope to a spider’s web—delicate, easily torn. How often do I rest my safety on possessions, morality, or public opinion? All these strands will break under judgment. Only the web of Christ’s grace holds firm.
Contemplation:
Where have I built my confidence on the fragile silk of self?
Edwards Quote:
“The strongest have no power to resist, nor can any deliver out of His hands.” — Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God
Prayer:
Lord, expose the flimsy threads of my false confidence. Teach me to cling only to the cross as my refuge.
Challenge:
List the three things you trust most besides God. Lay them before Him and surrender each one in prayer.I’m
